Acupuncture

Acupuncture is commonly used evidence based treatment for pain management.

Our physiotherapists have extensive training in acupuncture. Patients will be examined, a physical diagnosis will be made and a specific treatment plan developed. We use new, sterile needles at each treatment.

Our physiotherapists are in a unique position of being able to combine acupuncture with other treatment methods such as exercise, manipulation and massage. Acupuncture is effective for any conditions requiring pain relief such as back and neck pain, or any in situations where the body needs help with healing, for example a ligament sprain or a torn muscle.

All our physiotherapists practicing acupuncture are registered with Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists.

Acupuncture is very effective for reducing pain and inflammation, and is an excellent way to ease discomfort. Acupuncture treatment involves using very fine needles in specific points on the body. This gentle needling triggers signals in the nervous system, causing increases in the brain’s production of natural painkillers called endorphins. These substances are morphine-like chemicals that influence the body’s perception of pain. We use new, sterile needles at each treatment.
